Upgrade for Light Fixtures: The CEELINGS Collection from FIFTYEIGHT PRODUCTS

Fun, upbeat and with extremely original designs, FIFTYEIGHT PRODUCTS released an entirely new product line in autumn 2020. The German designer brand is internationally known for porcelain bowls with fun facial expressions. Now the label has found a new playing field: Light fixtures on the ceiling, in particular the canopies holding lamps in place.

If you like design, your home is probably full of nice things that match your style. Lots of love for detail, select designer pieces, artwork, books, nice lamps.

But then you let your eyes wander up to the ceiling, and you notice the bland canopies holding ceiling lights in place. And it's a real, instant bummer!

These canopies are often drab, boring pieces of plastic. Cheap and bought without a second thought from the home goods store. Emotionless pieces of cold plastic, not even hanging from the ceiling in a straight line.

Why on earth has no one come up with a more stylish solution for this?

Maybe because the ceiling is widely unexplored territory for designers? Who knows? Sure, you can buy light canopies in a few different colorways, like red, black, silver and even green. Overall, it’s a rather drab selection.

Time to level up your ceilings!

STYLE UPGRADE FOR CEILING LAMPS

Boring and drab ceiling light canopies are officially a thing of the past. With the CEELINGS product family, canopies receive a design upgrade. Eye catchers such as the “Handful of Light” and “Happy Hermann” will make looking up at the ceiling a pure joy!

“There really is an upside to just taking a long, relaxed glance at your ceiling,” said designer Max Zimmermann, Co-Founder/CEO at FIFTYEIGHT PRODUCTS.

Zimmermann came up with the idea for the unconventional room ornaments and convinced his partners to approach this uncharted territory. Bringing a new perspective into the product category of canopies, CEELINGS required three years of research and development.

The process included lots and lots of questions regarding design, material, attachment, manufacturing and marketing. In Fall 2020, the first CEELINGS items for the home arrived: A new tribe of products living high up on the ceilings.

Soulful characters, likable, stylish, humorous and full of emotions. A clear statement against boredom above our heads!

Say hello to the “Hand Full of Light” and “Happy Hermann” as the first members of the new CEELINGS family.

Look up at the ceiling and prepare to smile, while our “The Handful of Light” adds a nice dose of surrealism to the mix!

And be prepared to smile for miles once you see our Happy Herrmann dangling a lamp over your head!

Complementing the launch, FIFTYEIGHT also released a full package of new films. FIFTYEIGHT ANIMATION went hard in the paint and produced not one, but three new clips:

A humorous image video, a how-to-instructional on installing CEELINGS on lights in your home, as well as a cool behind-the-scenes look at the manufacturing process. 

MADE WITH ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY IN MIND

CEELINGS products are crafted from premium ABS plastic offering longevity, resistance against corrosion, color retention and 100% recyclability. Maintaining the company’s social and environmental guidelines, delivery chains are kept as short as possible.

Underneath the stylish cover, smart design abounds: Mounted in place by only three screws, your lamp safely hangs from the ceiling up to 4.4lb in weight thanks to the magic of cord grip. And that's just one of several nifty features like cool packaging, easy installation and Made in Germany quality.

Design, toolmaking, production and packaging at a sheltered workshop happen within a 30-kilometer radius of FIFTYEIGHT headquarters in the city of Frankfurt.

With that said, we are incredibly thrilled about how things turned out with this new line. Looking up at the ceiling just got a whole lot more interesting and your upscale designer lights now have an equally cool canopy to hang from – a real win-win.
